3-4-2025 – Binance’s local payment facilitator has undergone a strategic rebrand, adopting the moniker Gowd Instituição de Pagamentos, marking its evolution from its previous identity as Latam Gateway.
Brazil, which has emerged as a significant player in the global cryptocurrency arena with 26 million citizens embracing digital assets, has witnessed this transformation at a time when it ranks sixth globally in crypto adoption. This considerable market penetration, representing 16% of the nation’s population, underscores the country’s pivotal role in the digital currency ecosystem.
The rebranding initiative, which came into effect as April 2025 dawned, became apparent to users when their withdrawal documentation began displaying Gowd as the transacting entity. The payment processing infrastructure has been entrusted to Stark Bank, a licensed Brazilian financial institution.
This transformation marks the latest chapter in the company’s evolutionary journey, having previously transitioned from Capitual to Latam Gateway before assuming its current identity as Gowd. The shift is reflected across various platforms, including the consumer grievance portal Reclame Aqui, though some legacy branding remains visible in certain sections.
Binance, maintaining its position as the world’s foremost cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, has emphasised that this development aligns with its broader strategy of operational resilience. The exchange’s approach involves cultivating a diverse network of regional partnerships, ensuring robust service delivery across its global footprint.
