25-4-2025 – The notorious Lazarus Group, a North Korean state-backed hacking collective, orchestrated an elaborate ruse targeting cryptocurrency developers through sham enterprises in the United States.
Intelligence firm Silent Push has corroborated findings that link a specialist unit within the Lazarus Group to the sophisticated operation, which saw the creation of two bogus firms: one registered in New Mexico under the name Blocknovas LLC, and another, Softglide LLC, established in New York.
The hackers’ strategy involved dangling fictitious employment opportunities before unsuspecting cryptocurrency developers. Once engaged, the targets unwittingly exposed themselves to malicious software, enabling the cyber criminals to pilfer both digital wallet credentials and sensitive developer access codes.
American law enforcement has since intervened, with the Federal Bureau of Investigation successfully shuttering Blocknovas’ web presence.
